What this site is

metroulbucuresti.org is an independent guide to the Bucharest Metro: five lines and 64 stations. It is not the Metrorex website and it is not affiliated with Metrorex or STB: we do not sell tickets, we cannot top up a card and we cannot handle a complaint or a refund. For that, contact Metrorex.

What we do is put in one place a page for every station, the map, the timetable, fares and a route planner, written to be read on a phone on the platform. The site is funded by advertising.

What the October 2026 review found

On October 11, 2026 we checked every page against the sources, and a lot had to change.

Fares. The site still showed the prices from before May 1, 2026. A single trip is now 7 lei and the monthly pass 140 lei; integrated Metrorex + STB passes now exist, and the student discount is 90%.

Tudor Arghezi. The station, opened on November 15, 2023 as the new southern end of M2, was missing altogether. It now has its own page and appears in the M2 lists, on the map and in the route planner.

History and facts. We rewrote the station histories, which had been pasted from Wikipedia and carried errors. Construction began in 1975, not the 1960s; M2’s first section was Piața Unirii – Depoul IMGB; the M1–M4 change is at Basarab, not Gara de Nord; and airport bus 100 starts at Piața Unirii.

The “Metrorex” page. We had a page written as if it were the operator’s own, with wrong figures. It has been withdrawn; this page replaces it.

What is live and what is not

Nothing on this site is live. Metrorex publishes no open running data, so the status board only shows whether the metro is inside its operating hours. It cannot see a delay or a disruption, and it does not pretend to.

Where each fact comes from

Fares and passes: the order published in the Monitorul Oficial and the press that reported it (May 2026).

Stations, lines and opening dates: the Romanian and English Wikipedia, checked against each other.

The map: “Metro București.svg” on Wikimedia Commons (Mliu92 and contributors, CC BY-SA 4.0); it is not the official Metrorex map.

Train intervals: the 2022 Metrorex timetable, labelled as such.

When we get it wrong

We fix it and we say what was fixed — this page is the example. If something does not add up, write to [email protected].

This site is run by the team at GoRandom, a small group based in the Basque Country in Spain who do two things that go together better than they sound: travel, and build websites.

Bucharest is not yet one of the cities we have set foot in — we are up to twenty and we move slowly. We would rather say so than pretend otherwise: what you read here does not come from our memories, it comes from what the operator publishes and from checking work we can show you.

The other half of what we know how to do is web development, and this site is the excuse to put the two together. We do not leave it sitting there: every fare and every timetable carries its source and the date we checked it, and they get revised when the operator changes something. The last thorough revision was on October 11, 2026, when the fares in force since May 1, 2026, Tudor Arghezi station and the history of every station were checked and rewritten.

He decides what goes up, checks the data before it does, and answers the email. If you find a fare that has expired or a timetable that no longer holds, there is a specific person to write to.
