BUCHAREST METRO PASSES
On this page you will find information about the different season tickets available for the Bucharest metro along with their prices. Depending on your needs or how you plan to use the metro, one or another will be more worthwhile to choose.
Also, if you are a student and looking for a suitable way to make your metro journeys, you will find the reduced fares below.
If you are visiting the city, the 24-hour and 72-hour passes are usually the most practical option.
METRO PASS PRICES 2026
You can buy metro passes for 24 hours, 72 hours, 7 days, one month, 6 months or a year. The prices below are those in force since 1 May 2026.

Fares in force since 1 May 2026 (order published in Romania’s Official Gazette). Tickets and passes bought before that date remain valid until they expire.
PUPIL AND STUDENT METRO PASSES
In addition to the season tickets above, there are also more specific ones aimed at students. In this section you will be able to see the different season tickets that the Bucharest metro offers to the city’s students.
Passes are free or reduced for pupils, students and blood donors (the student discount is 90%):

For combined metro + STB bus/tram journeys there are also integrated tickets: a 120-minute journey costs 9 lei, 2 journeys 18 lei and 10 journeys 72 lei.
Note: Metrorex fares in force since 1 May 2026. You can also pay contactless at the turnstile with a bank card or phone.
DISCOUNTED BUCHAREST METRO FARES
In addition to the above, the metro has reduced fares for students, which are shown below:

BUCHAREST METRO FARES FOR TOURISTS
For a short visit, the most practical options in the Metrorex fare list are the 24-hour pass (18 lei) or the 72-hour pass (50 lei); if you also use STB buses or trams, the integrated 24-hour pass costs 23 lei. For just a few journeys you can also pay contactless at the turnstile.
Metrorex fares are the same on all 5 metro lines.
