Station history
Next to Gara de Nord railway station there are two separate metro stations: Gara de Nord 1 (M1) and Gara de Nord 2 (M4). They are not connected inside the paid area, so the change between M1 and M4 is made at the next station, Basarab. Gara de Nord 1 opened on 24 December 1987 as the end of the extension from Crângași.
