Station history

Next to Gara de Nord railway station there are two separate metro stations: Gara de Nord 1 (M1) and Gara de Nord 2 (M4). They are not connected inside the paid area, so the change between M4 and M1 is made at the next station, Basarab. Gara de Nord 2 is the southern terminus of M4, opened on 1 March 2000.
